Are you looking for new ways to engage students with reading and writing? Looking for ideas to help vulnerable students or English Language Learners in your classroom? Participants will walk away with strategies and hands on literacy activities to help vulnerable students as well as all learners in your classroom.
Purnima Lindsay is the Literacy and Technology consultant with CARC. She has experience teaching literacy and infusing technology within her practice. Purnima has a Master of Education degree with a specialty in Leadership and Educational Technology. She has taught in Australia, Belize, Kenya and India and is multilingual. For the past several years, Purnima has been an administrator and this experience has strengthened her understanding of the need for 21st Century Skills to engage today’s learners.Chris Zarski
Chris Zarski is currently the Director of Curriculum and Staff Development for St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Schools. Over her 39 years in education she has served as a teacher, teaching administrator, Examiner for Learner Assessment at Alberta Education and co-authored and served as the assessment and pedagogical consultant on 16 math resources. Chris also believes that we need to engage our students in their learning and has over the years replaced ‘note books with Foldables (graphic organizers)! She believes in active learning and that we can teach all children to learn at high levels.
Request for cancellation or refund must be received in writing (fax/email) at the CARC office a minimum of 3 FULL business days prior to the event start, or registration fees will apply and refunds will not be issued. If you are unable to attend a session and unable to provide three FULL business days’ notice, please feel free to delegate an alternate to attend in your place.
