Overview: The students demonstrate an understanding of their community in the past and present by creating a portion of an ABC movie using the vocabulary and key concepts from the unit.

Overview: Using technology, students will manipulate maps to gain a greater geographic understanding of their town and school community.

Overview: Students will create a section of a photostory that effectively shows the groups to which they belong.  When finished, the photostory will show the groups to which the entire class belongs.

Overview: Can be used as an opening research activity.  Students will create a simple PowerPoint slide to illustrate an aspect of their thriving community.

Overview: In this inquiry project students will apply their background knowledge of quality of life to investigate India, Tunisia, Ukraine or Peru and create a poster using that data.

Overview: Through this five activity inquiry project, students will explore the factors that affect quality of life in India.

Please, Please, Let’s Move To . . .

Overview:  This Web Quest takes students through gathering information about each of the four countries in this outcome: India, Tunisia, Ukraine and Peru.  Students must ultimately decide on the country in which they would prefer to live.

So What is Quality of Life?

Overview: During this introductory lesson, students will review what basic needs are, reflect on how they meet those needs, and understand that how they meet their basic needs reflects their quality of life.  Students will also understand and appreciate that others will have similar and different points of view about quality of life in their community.

Overview: In this Web Quest students must research the Royal Tyrrell Museum to convince a member of the community to sponsor the museum.

Renaissance Art and Literature Internet Sampler
by Jeff Lee

Overview: In this Web Quest, students examine Renaissance art and literature to gain a better understanding of how the arts influence worldview and reflect the change in values from the Middle Ages to Renaissance times.  Students also consider how these ideals and values have changed since the Renaissance in the western world.
